Zef Kabashi

Biography

Zef Joseph Kabashi, born May 17, 1976, is an American professional football manager and former player currently recruiting and developing players to the top levels of European football, by managing CD Gouveia. Prior to his move to Portugal, he was formerly in charge of NK Rudar Velenje in the Slovenian 2nd League.

He coached at Queensborough Community College (2009-2017) with a record of 45-26-4. He won three CUNYAC Regular Season Titles (2011, 2013, & 2016) and four CUNYAC Championships (2011, 2013, 2014 & 2015) during his tenure. He was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2016, and was also honored with the N.J.C.A.A. Region XV Sportsmanship Award for a second time.

He has worked with the Olympic Development Program coaching the U16 & U17 Boys age groups.

With a Master’s of Science in Sport Psychology, Zef has earned a UEFA ‘B’ Coaching License, USSF ‘A’ National Coaching License, a N.S.C.A.A. Advanced National Diploma, and a N.S.C.A.A. Director of Coaching Diploma. He continues to be student of the game with multiple certificates from the Football Coach Evolution (formerly the World Football Academy).

Zef was a very successful collegiate player, playing for Nassau Community College and later Molloy College. For Nassau, he was a Regional Finalist and captained the N.J.C.A.A. All-Star Team. His success would continue at NCAA Division II Molloy College, where he would captain and earn his Degree in Business Management.

Zef currently resides in Viseu with his wife Michele, and their three children, Lucas Paul, Aneliese and Luana.

Attending various football coaching courses and mentorship programs conducted by the World Football Academy and working with several renowned football clubs have helped this coach develop both professionally and personally.

Apart from mastering the tactical and technical aspects of the game, the coach has also learned how to apply the principles of personal development to his career. He has realized that in order to excel in any field, it is essential to continuously learn, grow and evolve.
